Ahmedabad: Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Ahmedabad civil hospital demanding justice over the alleged gang rape and murder of a Dalit woman.
As per reports, Kajal Rathod (19), went missing on January 1. Her family had approached police to lodge a complaint soon after. However, the police refused to do so.
The woman was later found hanging from a banyan tree in Gujarat’s Saira Village of Modasa on Sunday, January 5.
As per sources, she was abducted and raped by four men before killing her. They hanged the body to the banyan tree to resemble a suicide.
The woman’s aunt alleged that the police did not file a rape FIR till two days after the body was found.
Villagers have been protesting in Ahmedabad civil hospital demanding justice and suspension of the police officer on duty.
As this news went on social media, people across the country are demanding for justice and action from the government on the repeated rapes across the country. Twitteratis also alleged that the police did not take necessary action because she was from a Dalit community.
Another place, another girl, another caste… the same crime. Raped and killed brutally.
Hope @GujaratPolice is doing something coz what I hear is no FIR has been lodged, no culprits named. ASHAMED!

Gujarat police is shielding rapists and murderers of a Dalit Girl who was hung from a tree.
Gujarat CM isn’t opening his mouth about this injustice.
Modia is as always maintaining pin-drop silence.
No ‘Gujarati Asmita’ when Dalits and Tribals suffer Modiji? https://t.co/RJjTOvKMvk
