Bhopal: Father of Jabalpur-based young archer Muskan Kirar, who has won a gold medal in the Asia Cup at Bangkok, today said he was proud of his daughter’s feat, and expressed confidence that she would win more such medals for the country in the future.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, during the ongoing budget session today, congratulated Muskan on her achievement and lauded her for bringing laurels to the state.
Talking to the media over phone, her father Virendra Kirar said, “I feel very proud of Muskan’s feat. We are delighted. Everybody in the family is overjoyed. After her studies, Muskan used to practice for nine hours daily.”
“I know very well that she won’t stop here. Muskan will continue to win more medals and make the country proud in future too,” Kirar, who runs a mutton shop in Jabalpur, said.
Muskan, 16, has two younger siblings- 13-year-old sister Saloni, also an archer training at Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy in Jabalpur, and brother Basu (14), a black belt in karate.
Kirar said, “None of us usually talk about my profession as people look down upon it…But with whatever money I earn, I help my children accomplish their dreams.”
In the Assembly, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma congratulated Muskan on winning the medal.
State Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia told the House that the Jabalpur girl has achieved a rare feat.
“It is a very big achievement at the international level. She has given the best gift to the state,” she said.
