Bengaluru: Demanding that teachers be treated as frontline warriors, Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy requested the government provide Rs 50 lakh financial aid to families of teachers who died due to COVID-19.

Taking to Twitter, he said, “Nearly 145 teachers have died of Covid-19 in Karnataka.  The government should provide Rs 50 lakh financial assistance to families of teachers who died due to coronavirus while performing their election duty or while conducting classes under Vidyagama.”

“Government must consider them as frontline warriors. The state government is responsible for the deaths of the teachers. I condemn the ignorant attitude of the government. I request them to take immediate action and provide aid to their families,” he added
