Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has demanded the state BJP government to provide appropriate security to Srikrishna, the main accused in the Karnataka Bitcoin scandal.

The Leader of the Opposition in a tweet suggested that Srikrishna’s life could be in danger as many influential people are involved in the Bitcoin scam.

“I urge @CMofKarnataka to ensure adequate protection to #Bitcoin scam kingpin Sri Krishna alias Sriki. Many influential people are said to be involved in the scam & hence protecting him becomes necessary,” tweeted Siddaramaiah.

In yet another tweet, Siddaramaiah said, “Bitcoin scam is an organised ‘White collar crime’. It is said that all the passwords of the Bitcoin accounts related to the scam are just in the memory of Sriki. It is not written anywhere. His life will be under risk for these known & several unknown reasons.”

The Congress leader also pointed out the police’s charge sheet that notes Sriki’s usage of drugs. “Also, his father had accused the police of giving him drugs while in custody. Is he still on drugs? Did the police subject him to a medical test when he was arrested last? Was he given treatment if he was found to be a drug addict? The CM and home minister should specify,” he said.

The Bitcoin scandal has created a stir in Karnataka politics, putting the Opposition Congress and the ruling BJP at loggerheads.
