The accused identified as Arjun Honkera, a PSI at Gonibeedu police station had summoned the youth, K L Puneet of Mudigere taluk for questioning over allegations raised by a few villagers that he was in contact with a married woman.

In his complaint, lodged on May 22 Puneet alleged that he was thrashed severely and when he requested for water, the PSI made another accused person who was in the lock-up in connection with a theft case—to urinate on his face.
