Kalaburagi: RD Patil, one of the main accused in the Karnataka PSI recruitment scam was released from Kalaburagi Central prison late on Saturday night.
The Kalaburagi Bench of the Karnataka High Court, on Thursday, December 15, had granted bail to RD Patil and his brother and Congress leader Mahantesh Patil in relation to the PSI recruitment scam case.
Following the bail orders, Mahantesh was released from prison two days ago. However, RD Patil continued to remain in prison as he had other pending cases against him, including two warrants issued by a lower court.
On Saturday, RD Patil through his advocate completed the legal formalities required to secure his release. Subsequently, he was released from prison after depositing security.
It is learned that, upon release, RD Patil discreetly went to his home to avoid the kind of controversy that erupted after Mahantesh’s supporters celebrated his release from prison.
In a Facebook post purportedly from RD Patil requesting his well-wishers not to visit his home or office to welcome his release from prison has gone viral on social media. In the post, R D Patil says that he is going out of Kalaburagi for personal work and will return to Afzalpur in a week’s time.
