PU classes to commence with 50% capacity

The department of pre-university education has issued the standard operating procedure (SoP) ahead of resumption of PU classes in districts having less than 2 percent positivity rate from August 23 onwards.

As per the SOP, colleges have been asked to conduct online/offline classes with 50 per cent student capacity.

This implies that students will be divided into two batches and offline classes will be held for one batch while online classes would be held for the other.

“For eg those who attend offline classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday should attend online classes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,” reads the SoP.

However, if the student capacity of the college is less that 100, and they have proper infrastructure, then such colleges can conduct classes with full strength with all Covid safety measures for all the students.

For districts where the positivity rate is above 2 per cent, the classes will be conducted in online mode.

Students have to mandatorily submit consent letter from parents to attend offline classes and the parents should also certify that their wards do not have any Covid-like symptoms.

Distance should be maintained in every class and room as per rules. The number of students should be fixed duly taking into account the size of the rooms.

For lecturers and college staff

On first priority, all PU college principals, lecturers and non-teaching staff should get vaccinated compulsorily. All the deputy directors should take steps to ensure that teaching and non-teaching staff of the PU colleges within their jurisdictions get themselves vaccinated.
