PU student stabbing: Absconding accused arrested

Kundapur: A 17-year-old youth who went absconding allegedly stabbing a junior college student within the institution premises here was arrested from Hunumanala in Kushtagi, Koppal district.
The arrested juvenile, who was an ex-student of the board high school here had planned the assualt on Anup Sherigar,17, reportedly over an old rivalry and had discussed the same with his friends. On November 29, the arrested entered the institution and stabbed Sherigar in his abdomen, chest, neck, shoulder and temple whereafter he fled the scene. A case of attempt to murder was filed in the police station here.
According to the police, the arrested juvenile had travelled to Bengaluru on the day he committed the crime whereafter he went to Ramanagara and Bagalkote and on December 4 he reached his native Koppal.
Following the arrest, he was brought here on Monday, December 17 and produced before the judge of the juvenile justice board. Thereafter, he was handed over to the children’s home at Nittur for a period of two days.
