PUC classes to start from Aug 30 in DK

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management and COVID Control Committee in a meeting held on Monday decided to start pre-university college classes in a phased manner from August 30 in the district under certain conditions.
“Students must bring an RT-PCR test report. Those infected with the virus must be quarantined for 7 days. After coming out of quarantine another RT-PCR test must be conducted. The commencement of the colleges will be permitted on the condition that they must strictly adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and inform the local administration if symptoms are noticed in any student. On the same basis, steps will be taken to start classes 9 and 10 shortly,” Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV who presided the meeting said.
The DC also said that heads of private educational institutions should prepare a report on the steps that can be taken in their college premises to ensure safe attendance of students in college and discuss with the Education Department officials on taking action as per the government’s SOP.
MLAs Sanjeeva Matandoor, Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharat Shetty, Umanath Kotian, Rajesh Nayak, Harish Poonja, Pratap Chandra Naik, Mayor Premananda Shetty, SP Hrishikesh Bhagwan Sonavan, Municipal Commissioner Akshy Sridhar, Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Anand Kumar and ADC Pragya Ammembal were present in the meeting.
