Pulse polio vaccination drive launched

Mangaluru: The pulse polio vaccination drive was held in the city at Lady Goschen hospital in the city on Sunday, January 19. Polio drops will be administered to children below the age of five years.
Speaking on the occasion district in-charge minister said that the last case of polio was detected in the year 1999. “Since then no polio cases have been detected,” he added.
The Health Minister had announced that the National Immunisation Pulse Polio Programme will be conducted nationwide on January 19, 2020.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLA UT Khader, Dakshina Kannada District Health and Family Welfare Officer M. Ramakrishna Rao among others were present.
