Pumpwell flyover completion delay; Agitation committee stages protest

Kankanady: The Pumpwell Flyover Action Committee in association with various other organisations held a protest at Pumpwell on October 8. They demanded for the early completion of the Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyover works and also to construct a fly over at Nanthoor.

The inaction of the authorities and the district administration as well as the irresponsibility of the contracting agencies of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has left this project limping, alleged the protestors.

The protestors also alleged that the incomplete flyover has led to many accidents and has already claimed several lives.

“Though the NHAI has set a deadline for the completion of work and assured of completing the work within the deadline, it has repeatedly missed several deadlines,” said Sunil Kumar Bajal, district secretary, CITU.

Several leaders of various organizations took part in the protest and demanded the work to be completed at the earliest.
