Bengaluru: Expressing grief over the untimely demise of Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, Prasanna H.M, president of the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) in Karnataka urged Chief minister Bommai to provide protection to Puneeth’s family doctor Ramana Rao.
Pointing out that some social media posts have alleged negligence by the medical professionals for Puneeth’s death, Prasanna said that these narratives have a demoralizing effect on the medical fraternity and are also posing a risk to those medical professionals who served the deceased.
Puneeth passed away on October 29 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Puneeth had been initially rushed to his family doctor after he complained of discomfort and was later shifted to Vikram hospital.
“While medical professionals try their best at saving lives, but this is not always possible,” Prasanna said.
“The turn of events following the actor’s demise and the manner in which healthcare is being portrayed in the media and public is a matter of deep concern,” said the PHANA president urging Bommai to provide police protection to Ramana Rao and others involved in the treatment of Puneeth Rajkumar.
He also urged the CM to make a public statement to boost the morale of the medical fraternity.
