Punjalkatte: Man commits suicide after killing teen son

Punjalkatte: In a shocking incident, a 58-old-man committed suicide by hanging self after murdering his teenage son here on Wednesday.

The deceased are identified as Babu Naik and Satvik, 15, a Class 8 student of Karnataka Public School.

It is gathered that Babu Naik was an alcoholic and used to pick up petty quarrels with his son. On Wednesday after Babu Naik’s wife Sugandhi went to the factory, the former had an argument with Satvik.

In a fit of rage, Babu Naik assaulted Satvik with a sickle thus leading to his death. Upset over the incident, he later hanged himself to death in their rented house.

The incident came to light when an anxious Sugandhi returned home as Satvik was not responding to her phone call.

Police visited the spot and began the investigation.
