Punjalkatte: One killed, 2 critically injured as truck overturns

Punjalkatte: A truck overturned here amid heavy rainfall resulting in one death and injuries to two others on Friday morning, July 19.

The deceased has been identified as Karthik, a resident of Farangipete. The identity of the injured was not immediately known.

The Eicher truck, reportedly belonging to a shamiana shop in Madhwa in Kavalapaduru village, was carrying shamiana materials to Beltangady when it overturned near the Shri Ramajaneya Bhajana Mandir turn in Punjalkatte.

It is said that there were ten people on the truck, though exact details are yet to be confirmed. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Local youths struggled to rescue the young men trapped under the truck for some time. Former ZP member M. Tungappa Bangera and Punjalkatte police visited the scene.
