Pushpa Amarnath appointed Karnataka Mahila Congress president

Bengaluru: The All-India Congress Committee (AICC), on Friday, appointed B Pushpa Amarnath, the former general secretary of the Karnataka State Women’s Congress Committee, as the president of the Karnataka Mahila Congress, replacing MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar.
Her name was approved by Congress President Rahul Gandhi stated a press release issued by the AICC.
The change of guard has been termed as routine. Hebbalkar had held the post for nearly three years now.
A native of Mysuru Dr. Pushpa was a former president of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat. She is now a member of the ZP from Dharmapura in Hunsur taluk.
Apart from Pushpa, it is learnt that Dakshina Kannada (DK) District Women’s Congress President Shalet Pinto and dentist Dr Nagalakshmi were in the consideration for the post.
