Puttur: Following the death of a man who had consumed poison, a case has been registered against 8 persons for abetment of suicide.

Abdul Naseer, a resident of Puttur’s Kattatharu, had consumed poison on August 22 after making a video about ending his life. He died at a hospital on August 27 without responding to treatment.

It is gathered that Naseer had previously filed a complaint at the Bellaire police station alleging several individuals had assaulted him and issued death threats.

Following Naseer’s death, his mother filed a complaint at the Puttur rural police station.

Accordingly, police have booked a case against 8 persons — Adram, Moidu, Taaju, Abudlla, Sameer, Naufal and Ataullah — for abetting suicide.

Further investigations are underway.
