Puttur: 9 booked for assaulting youth at secluded location

Puttur: A young man from Mangalore, who came to watch Kambal in Puttur, was allegedly assaulted by a group at a secluded place on Sunday.

The alleged victim, identified as Sagar of Kodikal in Mangaluru, filed a complaint in this regard at the Puttur City police station. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against 9 accused — Kaushik, Yajnesh, Keshav, Srujan, Vineeth, Latesh, Manvith, Mohit, and Hemant.

The complaint said that Sagar was talking to his girlfriend at Kambala Gadde. His friend Durgaprasad was along with them.

According to Sagar, Kaushik, a former lover of the girl, arrived at the scene and interrogated him about his identity and his relationship with the girl. Upon learning about their relationship, he and Durgaprasad were taken to a deserted area and physically assaulted by the group. They also threatened to kill him if he did not end the relationship, the complaint said.
