Puttur banner case: Yatnal condemns incident, promises action

Puttur: Former minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, on Friday, visited the activists in the police brutality at a city hospital and inquired about their well-being.
Expressing his condemnation of the incident, Yatnal addressed the media and called for immediate action against the erring officials. “Everyone knows what is behind it. This incident has brought disrepute to the police department. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) should be removed immediately,” he said.
Yatnal further asserted that the oppression of Hindu activists under the current Congress government would not be tolerated. He said that he would inform the central leaders about the sentiments expressed by the workers regarding the incident.
Additionally, Yatnal announced that he would personally contribute Rs 1 lakh towards the medical expenses of the affected activists. He further emphasized that the party’s high command would work towards resolving the situation.
It may be recalled that several youths who were accused of puting up the defamatory banner offering respectful “homage” to BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and Former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda after BJP defeat in Puttur were allegedly subjected to atrocities at the police station.
