Puttur: Cops dupe, arrest rape accused after posing as car buyers on OLX website

Puttur/Kochi: A 30-year-old man from Puttur here was arrested in connection with a rape case after being on the run for almost two and a half years.

Police efforts to nab the accused, identified as Praveen had gone in vain until recently when they came to know that he had placed an advertisement on OLX to sell his car.

The cops then contacted Praveen while posing as customers and scheduled a meeting to negotiate the deal. Praveen was arrested when he arrived on the spot.

According to the police, Praveen had got acquainted with a girl while he was working at a temple at Chottanikkara in Kerala in 2019. The duo was said to be in a live-in relationship and Praveen established a physical relationship with her after promising marriage.

Differences arose between them after Praveen came to know that the girl had lied about being employed. Later the girl filed a complaint of sexual harassment against him.
