Puttur: Amid a rise in Covid-19 cases in the neighbouring state of Kerala, officials in Puttur have planned to subject all the family members in the taluk to Covid tests, if visited by relatives or friends from Kerala.
People living in Puttur Taluk frequently visit villages in Kerala like Adoor, Mulleria, Badiadka, Perla, Nettanige, Padre etc and vice versa. Officials claim that the Covid-19 situation in the taluk might worsen unless the contact between these regions is totally cut off.
It is said that the officials have a long list of Kerala registration vehicles that visit Puttur taluk regularly.
Puttur tahsildar Ramesh Babu said that in order to keep a tab on Covid cases in the taluk, the department has planned to subject entire families to Covid tests if they are visited by friends or relatives from Kerala.
