Puttur gang rape case: HC grants bail to four accused

Puttur: Karnataka High Court granted bail to four youths accused in the Puttur gang rape case. Prajwal, another accused in the case was granted bail in the case on November 28.

Earlier in March this year, five students – Gurunandan from Ganadamoole, Prajwal from Perne, Kishen from Kadambu, Sunil from Aryapu Piligunda, and Prakhyath from Barimaru Balya – had offered a lift to the victim, who happens to be their classmate and later raped her in the car at a deserted area of Bellippady Katara of the taluk.

A video of the incident, recorded by the accused went viral on social media in July and the police registered a suo-moto case. The accused were arrested and have been in judicial custody since July 04.

The students had moved a bail petition in the high court after a lower court rejected their plea.
