Puttur: In an act of vengeance, a youth allegedly set a motorcycle on fire at Mullugudde of Adekall near Hirebandadi village here.

Based on the complaint filed by the motorcycle owner, Likith police arrested Sandeep, a resident of Ninnikallu Padala, Uppinangady village.

He has been booked under charges of arson and is currently in police custody.

The incident took place on January 6 when Likith, who had recently married a girl from Mullugudde on January 3, arrived at his in-laws’ house with his newlywed wife.

According to police Sandeep had developed a one-sided love for Likith’s wife and was angry upon learning of her marriage. He thus acted in revenge and set Likith’s motorcycle ablaze.

A local named Keertan who noticed the motorcycle on fire raised an alarm and alerted other family members. Upon checking, Likith found that his motorcycle was missing from the shed in front of the house.
