Mangaluru: Leopard was sighted at many places in the taluk here causing fear among residents and making them stay indoors after evening.

Confirmed sightings were reported from Perne and Kodimbadi village. In Kodimbadi the movement of the leopard was captured in a house’s CCTV camera.

Leopard was also spotted twice in Bannur and in Sediyapu villages.

Many residents in these villages have also reported missing dogs and chicken.

It was not known whether the leopard sighted in all these places is the same or if there are many.

These villages mostly have areca plantations and the trees need to be watered in the evening. However, the leopard sightings have made the plantations owners stay indoors after sunset.

The residents have requested the forest department to lay traps to catch the leopard/s.
