Puttur: Two chain snatchers who stole a gold chain from a lone woman walking on the road were caught and handed over to police by local youths of Bettampadi on July 18.

On June 7, the miscreants who came on a bullet bike allegedly snatched a gold Mangalsutra of a woman in Kodinadka.

Following this, a complaint was lodged but the police failed to nab the accused.

On July 18, locals of Bettampady received a tip-off that the accused were traveling to Puttur from Panaje. The youths intercepted their vehicle in Mithadka but the accused managed to escape.

They then informed the police officials who placed barricades near the Renje junction. The accused fell off their bikes after hitting the barricades and ran towards a nearby field.

The youths chased the accused and managed to catch them. They were later handed over to the police officials.
