Puttur: Man assaulted, threatened with a machete by relative

Puttur police have registered a case following a complaint that a man was allegedly assaulted and threatened with a machete by his relative over a dispute about plucking jackfruit from a tree.
The complainant Arun Kumar (37), a resident of Ariyadka village is engaged in agricultural work. Reportedly he had an ongoing land dispute with his neighbor and relative, Nagesh Maniyani.
On July 24, while Arun was picking jackfruit from his land, Nagesh and his wife Yashodhara allegedly came to the spot and verbally abused Arun and his mother, Jayalakshmi.
When Arun questioned them, the accused assaulted him. During the altercation, Arun’s mother intervened to stop the fight. It is reported that Nagesh threatened Arun with a machete.
Arun was admitted to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the assault.
