Puttur: Mentally unsound person defaces Mahatma Gandhi statue

Puttur: The statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed near the KSRTC bus stand here was defaced on Thursday, July 1.
The spectacles attached to the statue was removed and placed over the statue’s head and a T-shirt was also placed over the head.
The city police took up the investigation, verified a CCTV camera installed nearby and found that it was done by a mentally unsound person.
In the CCTV footage, the person was seen placing a cloth over the head of the statue, he then sat near the platform for about ten minutes.
Police officials revealed that the man concerned is mentally ill and is seen roaming around this region often.
