Puttur: Two notorious inter-state thieves were arrested by the Puttur Rural police in connection with a theft at a house in Ujrupade in Balnadu village here.
The accused have been identified as Tarigudde Mohammed Ashraf (42) of Chikkamudnur village and K. Mohammed Salam, a resident of Gummankallu.
The accused had several cases of thefts registered against them in many police stations in Karnataka and Kerala states and a warrant for their arrest had been issued. But both were absconding for a long time, police said.
On February 26, the duo had broken into the house belonging to Shivaprasad Bhat in Balnad Ujrupade and decamped with 160-gram gold ornaments. A complaint regarding this had been lodged in the Puttur Rural police station.
Police said that they have seized assets worth Rs 6.5 Lakh from the accused. This included gold jewelry, silver articles, a CCTV camera DVR, a laptop and a motorbike, police added.
