Puttur: Rs 14,74,500 cash, CCTV DVR stolen from footwear shop

Thieves broke into a footwear shop in Puttur’s Kasaba village and decamped with Rs 14,74,500 cash and a CCTV DVR worth Rs 10,000.
The complainant Mohammed Shamir, owner of ‘Prakash Footwear Co’ who also deals in second-hand cars said that the thieves had stolen Rs 24,500 from the cash drawer as well as Rs 14,50,000 that he had kept inside a wooden box behind the cash drawer. The stolen money included Rs 7 lakh he had taken from a friend and Rs 8 lakhs from the sale of a car.
The theft came to light at around 9 am when one of the staff opened the shop. He immediately contacted Shamir. In his complaint, Shamir said that the thieves gained entry into the shop by removing roof tiles.
Puttur Town Police registered a case under 454, 457, and 380 of IPC.
