Puttur: Students caught off guard as alert messages blare in classroom

Puttur: In a quirky turn of events at a college in Puttur, the nationwide experimental Early Warning System test on October 12 proved to be a costly affair for some unsuspecting students. While mobile phones are typically a strict no-no in classrooms, a handful of rebels had their devices sneakily set on silent mode during the lecture.
Lo and behold, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the mobile phones blared with alarm tones, catching the students completely off guard.
Naturally, all the mobile phones were confiscated by the college authorities. It is gathered that the devices were later returned, accompanied by a stern warning.
Well, students learned an important lesson the hard way – even the best-laid plans can be thwarted by the unexpected (and sometimes mischievous) wonders of technology.
