Puttur: Taluk panchayat officer’s purse pick-pocketed on bus

Puttur: A woman has lodged a complaint with Puttur police about the theft of her purse, containing Rs 5,000 in cash and some records.
The incident took place on a private bus plying between Mangaluru-Puttur on Tuesday, September 20. The victim, Puttur taluk panchayat planning officer Sukanya upon realizing that her purse was missing contacted the bus staff whereafter the CCTV footage was checked.
The CCTV footage shows a woman seated next to Sukanya on the bus trying to pickpocket her phone when the latter got up to get down at Puttur. However, she was not able to steal Sukanya’s phone and thus stole her purse. The accused, who seems to be in her 50s had boarded the bus near Kalladka and is suspectedly a member of a gang engaged in pick-pockets.
