Puttur: Two teenagers drowned in the Netravati river at Uppinangady on Monday July 5.
The deceased have been identified as Ningaraju (16) and Sathish (14), children of Dharma and Meenakshi from Subbanahalli village in Shirahatti taluk, Gadag district.
It is said that their parents are employed in the plantation of Kedara House at Ilanthila. The boys were not aware of the depth of the river and ventured into the river for a bath when the parents were away visiting the town.
A relative who saw them drowning ran home and gave information. However, by the time they were rescued, they had lost their lives.
