Puttur: WCD officials rescue woman who was confined by her husband for 3 months

Puttur: In a distressing incident, a woman was found locked up by her husband for over 3 months reportedly assuming that she was “possessed by ghosts.”
The incident came to light in Kemminje village in Putuur, when concerned locals alerted the authorities about the woman’s ordeal.
On Wednesday, officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department reportedly rescued the woman and admitted her to the hospital.
The victim, identified as Asha Latha, was kept confined and was given the bare minimum for her sustenance. She was reportedly famished as she received tea and biscuits once a day.
