RAF’s 97 Bn HQ’s stone laying at Shivamogga dist on Jan 16

New Delhi: The stone laying ceremony of Rapid Action Force’s 97th Battalion headquarters will be inaugurated by Home Minister Amith Shah on Saturday, January 16 at Karnataka’s Shivamogga district.
The ceremony will be attended by the State’s Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
A fifty-acre parcel of land has been provided for building the battalion’s headquarters.
An official stated that the headquarters will house a Kendriya Vidyalaya school, administrative building, family welfare centre, family residential areas, sports centre including a swimming pool and a hospital for the troops.
The 97th Battalion to be based here will have jurisdiction over many districts of many southern States.
The Rapid Action Force is a specialised unit within the Central Reserve Police Force that was created in 1992. Its main purpose is to deal with riots and other incidents of public violence.
