Rahul attacks PM for personal comments

Bengaluru: Congress President retorted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attacks on his party, in a press conference here on Thursday. In the concluding campaign of the party, Gandhi criticised the PM’s campaigns for raising matters of his ancestral history and his mother’s foreign origins. “My mother is Italian. But she lived a larger part of her life in India. She has sacrificed for this country, she has suffered for this country. And it shows the quality of the Prime Minister when he makes such comments,” he said.
In response to Modi’s personal attacks on Gandhi, specifically for his ambition of becoming the PM, Gandhi said that Modi has got a lot of anger inside him. “He is angry with everybody, not only me. I am a lightning rod for anger, I attract anger,” he replied. He also added that when Modi cannot respond to a question, he chooses to distract the people. He also said that Modi saw him as a threat to his career. In addition to this, he also criticised Modi for only talking about ‘bullet trains’ and other such promises of development, while refusing to address the fundamental issues like women’s safety, atrocities against Dalits, etc.
He asserted that the Congress had drawn inspiration from the interests of the people to create its manifesto, since he had toured the State and spoken to the people for the last two months. He alleged that the BJP’s manifesto, on the other hand, was created behind closed doors and that most of its points were borrowed from the Congress manifesto.
