Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader spoke out against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as an MP, calling it a “murder” of parliamentary norms and democracy.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House in the city on Friday, Khader said he would not comment anything about the court’s verdict sentencing Rahul Gandhi to 2 years imprisonment on the “Modi surname” remark. However, he expressed concern over the decision to disqualify Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha when the court itself has allowed 30 days for an appeal, saying that it would affect every MP in the country.
Khader further stated that those who cannot tolerate the truth spoken by Rahul Gandhi would not allow the common man to do the same. He emphasized that the Congress party stood in solidarity with Rahul Gandhi.
Congress leaders Harish Kumar, Sadashiva Ullal, Santhosh Kumar, and Rafeeq Amblamogaru were also present at the press conference.
