Raichur: A Sub-Inspector from the city’s Sadar Bazaar police station, Azam, was suspended after a video showing him kicking and smashing vegetables of street vendors who were violating weekend curfew went viral.

Even though the district administration had imposed a weekend curfew, fruit and vegetable vendors in the city’s Bangikunta, Chandramouleshwara Circle and Patel Road went about their business on Sunday.

Angered by this Sub Inspector Azam kicked the vegetables on sale and shouted at the vendors for violating the lockdown.

The video of Azam in rage was published on Udayavani.com and shared by more than a thousand people.

Azam was later suspended by Raichur district Superintendent of Police Prakash Nikam after the video went viral and outrage was expressed on social media against Azam’s actions.
