Mangaluru: Normal train service on the Hassan-Mangaluru line resumed Wednesday with the completion of restoration work of tracks between Sakaleshpur and Subramanya Road stations in the Ghat section, South Western Railway (SWR) said.

The tracks had come under boulders and slurry due to landslide on Tuesday following heavy rain in the region, disrupting train services between Mangaluru and Bengaluru via Hassan.

SWR senior divisional operations manager, Mysuru division, said in a press note that the services were disrupted due to continuous sliding of loose soil along with boulders in the form of slurry on tracks.

The track was restored in the morning and day trains were since running smoothly.

The railway staff undertook the restoration work in hostile weather conditions to clear the slurry between Siribagilu, where the landslides occurred, and Subramanya Road railway station, he said.
