Rain causes artificial flooding in Udupi; disrupts life

Udupi: Heavy rain that lashed Udupi and surrounding areas on Saturday night inundated many low-lying areas and caused inconvenience to the locals.

Accumulated rainwater entered several houses at Kundapur, Kaup, Majoor, Matadabettu, and Kalsanka areas.

District administration has issued a warning to the people living on the banks of the river, they have been asked to move to safer places.

It is said that the parking space of Krishna Math, Bailakere and Nittor areas is flooded. Local rescue operations are underway and Police officials have also installed barricades at several places.

Udupi district is likely to receive heavy rains on Sunday and Monday.
