Rain declines: Fishermen rescued; landslide

- Netravathi River in full spate; Schools declare holiday
Mangaluru/Udupi: The heavy rain that was lashing Karavali since three days has declined slightly since Wednesday. The city witnessed good rainfall in the evening and night.
The coast guard rescued over 8 fishermen after their trawler lost control due to turbulent waves in deep sea. A landslide that occurred near Jodupala on Mani-Mysuru highway blocked movement of vehicles.
The low-lying areas near Kinnigoli were inundated. Due to intermittent rains, Phalguni River has been flowing above danger mark causing flood-like situation in several areas of Gurpur-Kaikamba.
Netravathi River has been flowing above the danger mark and the Tahasildar of Bantwal has declared holiday for schools in the taluk on Thursday August 16th. Holiday has also been declared for schools in Sullia for Thursday.
