Rainfall in parts of Karavali coast

Parts of Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts received rainfall on Tuesday, with several areas experiencing heavy showers. In Belthangadi taluk, places like Shirlalu, Karambaru, Madadka, Naravi, Aladangadi, and Ujire received substantial rainfall, bringing relief to residents from the scorching heat.
The Meteorological Department has predicted further light to moderate showers with thunderstorms in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district on Wednesday.
In Dakshina Kannada, the skies were cloudy on Tuesday morning. There was drizzle in some parts such as Ramakunja and Panaje.
Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27.9 degrees Celsius. Despite the rainfall, hot and humid conditions persisted along the coast.
A man was injured in a lightning strike. The lightning strike damaged the house of Manya Meginadka Narayana Naika in Kasaragod, injuring Nayka who was sleeping near a window at the time.
Additionally, waterlogging on the road in Cherkal town due to ongoing national highway work added to traffic woes.
Skies in Sullia and Subrahmanya taluks on Tuesday evening appeared red. Locals clicked photos and videos of the unusually red skies, which created a buzz on the internet.
