Rains subside in twin coastal districts; Yellow alert for May 22

Mangaluru / Udupi: The rains subsided in Dakshina Kannada with the Sun peaking out of the cloudy skies on Saturday. There were light showers in the district.
A similar situation was in Udupi too. The skies were cloudy throughout the day with intermittent light showers in Karkala, Udupi, and other taluks of the district.
The IMD has forecasted rainfall on the coast and has issued a yellow alert for May 22.
Meanwhile, the DK district in-charge secretary V Ponnuraj held a meeting with the district officials to review the preparations for the oncoming Monsoon season at DC’s office here on Saturday. He directed the officials to make adequate preparations for facing the onslaught of the rains.
Instructions were also issued for relocating people living in dangerous places such as low-lying areas near rivers and hilly areas prone to landslides before the Monsoon arrival.
