Raising a stink: Wastage from hotels, apartments, shops block storm water drain in M’luru

Mangaluru: Storm Water Drain (SWD) that flows from Pandeshwar to the fishing port at Bunder is blocked due to waste from nearby hotels, apartments, shops. Residents are also complaining of foul stench arising from the SWD
It is said that the drainage water is flowing through this SWD and getting merged into the river at fisheries port.
Locals allege that despite several complaints to the district administration, the officials have not taken any action
Earlier, Former deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil had instructed to treat the water and then allow it to flow into the sea, a smart city project plan was also made regarding the same. However, it was never implemented
Mayor Premananda Shetty said that he has received several complaints about the SWD in Pandeshwar and legal action will be taken against those responsible.
