The debut of ‘Raja Maharaja Jodukere Kambala’ in Bengaluru captivated spectators, drawing a diverse crowd eager to witness this traditional coastal sport firsthand.

Bustling with excitement, locals and residents from varied cultural backgrounds, all converged at the Palace Grounds. While people from the coast were there to witness the folk sport debuting in the state capital, others were there to enjoy the fair-like atmosphere.

Midway through the event, unexpected rain interrupted the proceedings, while people ran for cover, seeking shelter from the downpour. However, despite the weather, the ‘Kambala’ event continued seamlessly.

Distinct Team Jerseys:

Participating teams were seen in a variety of vibrant jerseys, distinguishing each team. The diverse range of attire not only distinguished each team but also garnered attention from the intrigued audience.

Photography Frenzy:

People also immersed themselves in capturing the essence of the event through photography. Selfies with the participants, Kamabala buffalos, runners, and various exhibits became a common sight. Due to space constraints around the track, capturing images of the buffalos in action from a distance became a preferred choice.

Managing the influx of curious crowds posed a challenge for the organizers and stall owners.

Media Attention:

The inaugural Bengaluru ‘Kambala’ event garnered widespread media attention, attracting both state and national media coverage. Stall owners proudly showcased their racing buffalos, describing their unique features and abilities in front of media cameras.

In a bid to cater to a diverse audience, the event featured commentary in both Kannada and Tulu languages, ensuring everyone’s comprehension and enjoyment of the spectacle.

With the surging crowd, many attendees resorted to watching the ‘Kambala’ on large digital screens, providing an alternate viewing experience for those unable to secure proximity to the track.
