Rajinikanth takes U-turn, says will not launch a political party

Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday, December 29 announced that he was going to withdraw his decision to launch a political party and that he will not enter the electoral fray.

“I regret to inform you that I am not going to launch a political party, I will serve people in whatever ways I can without entering electoral politics,” he said.

Rajinikanth had recently announced that he would launch his political party in January 2021. The top star, promising his brand of spiritual politics had dramatically asserted that he was even ready to risk his life for the sake of people’s welfare by making a foray into politics.

The 70-year old actor had categorically said that his party would fight Assembly elections in 2021 and emerge victoriously.

Assembly elections are due in Tamil Nadu during April-May 2021.
