Rajya Sabha polls: Karnataka Congress fields Mansoor Khan

Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress on Monday announced Mansoor Khan as its second candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls.
Congress claimed that the party decided to field Mansoor Khan to ‘prevent’ the BJP-JDS alliance. However, the recent reports say otherwise.
It is said that DK Shivakumar hoped for an alliance between JDS and Congress but Siddaramaiah opposed the move and decided to announce the candidature of Rehman Khan’s son Mansoor Khan.
Sources claim, he also discussed the issue with KPCC secretary K C Venugopal. This has led to a rift between the two leaders.
