Ramakrishna Mission undertakes Swachhata Abhiyan at Kadri Mallikatte

Mangaluru: Volunteers of the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan carried out the Swachhata campaign at Kadri Mallikatte circle, under the fifth phase of Ramakrishna Mission Swachhata Abhiyan’s 18th Shramadan on Sunday.
Dr Shantaram Shetty, managing director of Tejaswini Hospital, and Dr K Bhaskar Shetty, managing director of City Hospital jointly inaugurated the drive in the presence of Swami Prakashananda, president of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashrama, Ranebennur.
A bus shelter located at Mallikatte circle, the direction boards of the ‘Kadri Temple Road’ and ‘Lobo Lane’ were repainted and surrounding areas cleaned.
Addressing the gathering Swami Prakashananda said, “The Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyaan has become a model movement. Cleanliness is a virtue not only to be inculcated but also to be insisted on others to follow. Sr Nivedita, the disciple of Swami Vivekananda, initiated this movement in Kolkata a century ago. Today we appreciate the lead taken by Mangalore Ramakrishna Mission for its sustained efforts in creating awareness among the people.”
