Bengaluru: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on Monday met Neelamani N Raju, Director General and Inspector General of police, Karnataka and Praveen Sood, CID director general of police to demand a CID investigation into the rape and blackmail of a Kerala girl.

The victim, in her complaint, alleged that the accused had raped her after giving her juice laced with sedatives, recorded the incident and was later pressurizing her to convert to Islam or make public the video recording.

While the victim hails from Kasaragod, the accused is a resident of Bengaluru. Noting that the case s spread over two states, Karandlaje opined that the CID investigate the case as it also involves the issue of religious conversion.

City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, is also in favour of handing over the case to CID, stated a police source.

Meanwhile, the police have so far arrested two persons in the case.
