Bantwal: The Food Department conducted a raid on a petty shop near Goodinabali in B Mooda village on Wednesday and arrested two persons, seized rice worth Rs 2,36,950 and a vehicle.
The accused are identified as Abdul Hakeem (60) and Abdul Salim (45), residents near Goodinabali. They have been presented before the Court.
The officials seized 60 bags of 50 kg each stored in the vehicle, 27 bags of 50kg each and 27 bags of 48kg each inside the shop and 2 weighing machines in the vehicle.
Bantwal town police has registered a case against the accused on the charges of illegally procuring and hoarding ration rice at a lower price and then transporting it to Kerala.
