Red alerts issued in Udupi and Kasaragod districts

Udupi: On the backdrop of the weather forecast by Natural Disaster Management Centre and Indian Meteorological Department and the ensuing downpour, the disaster management authority in Udupi has issued red alert, warning people of heavy rains in the district for three days, beginning from July 20.
In a press release, Deputy Commissioner Hepsiba Rani Korlpati warns people of heavy rains for three days from July 20. The release has mandated district and taluk level officials to remain in the centres and warns fishermen and tourists not to venture into the sea. It directs parents and teachers to take care of their wards and not allow them to go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shores and riverside.
Kasaragod: Kasaragod deputy commissioner Dr D Sajith Babu has declared holiday on July 20 for all the schools and colleges in the district in view of heavy rains in the district during the next 24 hours. A red alert has also been declared in the district for July 20.
