Benagluru: The city civil and sessions court on Tuesday cancelled the anticipatory bail of K Mehfuz Ali Khan, aide of mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy and remanded him to judicial custody till November 27.
The CCB police had filed an application in the court seeking cancellation of Khan’s anticipatory bail and his custody for investigation in the Ambidant Marketing Pvt Ltd money-laundering scheme.
As the court had not received any application from the CCB for Khan’s custody the court remanded him to 14-days judicial custody after he surrendered himself before the magistrate.
Meanwhile, the CCB police who turned up at the court later were directed by the first additional chief metropolitan magistrate to file an application seeking his custody on Thursday, November 22.
The CCB investigators believe that questioning Mehfuz will provide them with details the of role played by Janardhana Reddy to help Ambidant owner Syed Fareed Ahmed Khan in covering up an alleged ponzi scheme.
Syed Fareed Ahmed is currently under the Central Crime Branch’s (CCB) scanner for allegedly perpetuating a ponzi scheme in the pretence of ‘Islamic Banking’ and cheating investors.
